Fr. prof. dr hab. Henryk SKOROWSKI, Rector of UKSW

Born in 1950 in Rumi. In 1968 he joined the Salesian Congregation. He was ordained in 1976. In the same year he obtained a master's degree in theology at the Catholic University of Lublin (KUL). In 1979 he obtained a master's degree in moral theology at ATK; he defended his doctoral thesis in 1982; in 1990 he obtained a postdoctoral degree; in 1997 he received the title of professor, and in 2000 he was appointed to the position of full professor. Since 1984 he has been employed at ATK /currently UKSW. For nine years Dean of the Faculty of History and Social of UKSW, formerly Deputy Dean of that Faculty. Editor-in-chief of "Seminare. Scientific Exploration; deputy editor of „Saeculum Christianum”. Since 2005, general and vice-rector for general matters and research.

Associate Professor dr hab. Tadeusz KLIMSKI,

Vice-Rector for Development and International Cooperation

Born in 1948 in Lublin. Philosophical and psychological studies at the Faculty of Christian Philosophy of KUL graduated in 1970. In the same place he obtained his doctoral dissertation in 1978; obtained a postdoctoral degree in 1993. From 1970 employed at the Faculty of Christian Philosophy ATK /currently UKSW. From 1978 to 1996 the ATK member of the Senate; since 2002 the member of the UKSW Senate. Since 1996, the director of extramural studies – of the field of philosophy at the Faculty of Christian Philosophy of UKSW; since 1997 head of the Section of Philosophy at the Institute of Philosophy of ATK / currently UKSW. Since 1972 member of the S.I.E.P.M. Member of the Scientific Thomistic Society. In the years 1986 - 1990 Member of the Primate's Social Council (second term); in the years 1997 to 1999 a member of KIAK. Since 2005, UKSW Vice-Rector for Development and International Cooperation. Married, two children.

Associate Professor, dr hab. Marek KOWALSKI,

Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Information

Born in 1953 in Warsaw; graduated with honors mathematics and computer studies at the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics at the Warsaw University in 1977. In the same place, in 1981 he defended with honors his doctoral thesis, and in 1990 he obtained his post-doctoral degree; Deputy Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics, Informatics and Mechanics of the Warsaw University from 1990 -1993; linked with UKSW linked since 2000, co-founder and first Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, School of Exact Science of UKSW; the member of the UKSW Senate since 2000; the Laureate of the 1996 Prize of the Minister of National Education for co-authorship of the book "Selected Topics in Approximation and Computation."; the Clyde Chair Award winner in 2002 for lifetime achievements in technology. Since 2007, Vice-Rector for Student Affairs and Information Technology. Married, two daughters.

Associate Professor dr hab. Dorota KIELAK,

Vice-Rector for Education

Born in 1964 in Warsaw. In 1988 she graduated from the Faculty of Polish Studies at Warsaw University (MA in Polish Philology), and in 1990 also graduated from the Faculty of History at Warsaw University (MA in history). In 1998 she defended her doctoral thesis at the Faculty of Polish Studies at Warsaw University, and in 2008 – by the decision of the Council of the Faculty of Humanities, the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin - obtained a post-doctoral degree. Since 1990 employed at the Institute of Polish Philology at the Faculty of Humanities at Warsaw University Branch in Białystok, and from 1999 at the Faculty of Humanities of UKSW. In 2005-2008 Deputy Dean of the UKSW Faculty of Humanities, and the organizer of the School of Polish Language and Culture for Foreigners at the UKSW Faculty of Humanities. Since 2008, the Vice-Rector for Education.

Chancellor of UKSW supervises the administration and management of the University and takes decisions on property of UKSW in normal conditions; represents UKSW outside in matters within his competencies. He is a superior to all employees in organizational units of the University administration. (Paragraphs 100 and 103 of the UKSW Statute). The functions of the Chancellor include:

  • economy and property management of UKSW;
  • organization and functioning of administration;
  • investment and maintenance of the building;
  • maintenance of equipment;
  • transportation;
  • maintaining order and cleanliness;
  • social affairs and health care of UKSW workers;
  • technical assistance to the organizers of the University and beyond University meetings and conventions held in UKSW;
  • matters commissioned by the Rector;
  • preparation of the material-financial plan of UKSW;
  • development of economic analyses of UKSW;
  • establishment, termination, and change of employment with employees of the University administration. (Paragraphs 101, 102 and 103 of the UKSW Statute)
